  According to the introduction to the Salt Collection at the Shropshire Archives, Edward was a surgeon of Shrewsbury - we've not been able to confirm this. The 1851 census has Edward Humphreys (b. 1771 from Montgomeryshire) living in Kensington with his wife Alice.
