  Died after falling from his horse - The Standard (London, England), Saturday, October 27, 1883; pg. 1 A plaque in the parish church in Barbon, Cumbria, has the following inscription: In affectionate rememberance of Charles Francis Le Champion Moller who died from the effects of a fall from his horse near Charlottesville Virginia US the 24th Sept 1883.
